Aukcijska kuća Sotheby's trenutno prodaje jedan od prvih 50 primjeraka računara Apple-1, ručno sklopljen u garaži roditelja Stevea Jobsa, a smatra se najbolje očuvanim funkcionalnim računarom te vrste u svijetu.

Apple-1, prvi unaprijed sastavljeni lični računar na tržištu i prvi proizvod kompanije Apple, predstavljao je tehnološku prekretnicu. Dizajnirao ga je Stiv Voznijak, a karakterističan je po integrisanom video terminalu na matičnoj ploči, što je u to vrijeme bilo revolucionarno.

Primjerak poznat kao “Romkey” sa zanimljivom istorijom korištenja, nakon minimalnog korišćenja, 1981. godine je zamijenjen za novi računar kod Toma Romkija, Apple servisera sa Floride, koji ga je čuvao skoro 40 godina.

Računar je danas gotovo netaknut i funkcioniše savršeno, a pripada prvoj seriji Apple-1 koja je posebno tražena zbog specifičnih obilježja poput nedostatka dijamantskog monograma i ručno ispisanih serijskih brojeva.
